Camping at festivals doesn't mean you have to tap into the bushcraft spirit of Ray Mears. You certainly won't have to learn how to skin a rabbit or make fire from flint. But some common sense is needed. Camping is simple and straightforward - but someone has to be mum and make sure you pack the sunscreen.
First off, check your festival tickets are genuine and packed in your rucksack.
Always pack the wet wipes as well as loo roll - once forgotten you'll never forget again! Even the best run festivals will run out of toilet roll in the first few minutes as everyone panics and stockpiles loo roll in their wellies.
Carry a CHARGED mobile phone - if you lose your mates in the crowd, get lost or get into any trouble, you'll need it.
Check your tent - make sure it sleeps enough. If you're going to a festival alone, take one that sleeps two in case you meet your soul mate!

Pain killers and imodium - if you're in the true camping and festival spirit, chances are you'll have at least one headache, and diarrhoea is the LAST thing you want when camping at a music festival.
A torch - it can get dark out there. And you may want to read a classic tomb while you're tucked up with your cocoa in your sleeping bag!
Sure it might rain - but even in British summers you can end up looking painfully lobster-like. Always ply on the suncream, besides, it's cool to be pale and interesting.
You may be hanging out with the great unwashed but you're also in the presence of a few rock giants - pack some deodorant and dry shampoo just in case you do meet your lifelong hero.
Ditto, you may ooze an attractive festival vibe and look fashionably cool in camp but one thing you do want to repel is insects bites - pack some repellent.
Earplugs - for obvious reasons.
As well as the essential tents and tent accessories, make sure you pack a disposable camera. You'll want your expensive digital one safely locked up at home - if you lose the disposable or it gets nicked, you've only lost a few blurry snaps.
