Creamfields Festival 2010

What is it and where did it come from?

Creamfields is a large UK dance music festival held over two days on the August bank holiday weekend. Starting life in 1998 in a field near Winchester, the event moved up to the Cream homeland in 1999, taking up residence on the old airfield in Liverpool. In 2006 it moved once again, and now takes place amidst rolling hills close to the village of Daresbury in Halton, less than half an hour outside Liverpool in the stunning Cheshire countryside.

Seizing on a gap in the market and capitalising on the rising popularity of outdoor music festivals in the UK at the end of the 1990s, Creamfields was created by the brains behind legendary Liverpool club night Cream to provide dance music fans with their very own large scale outdoor dance extravaganza. Creamfields' meteoric rise from its early days in Winchester to today's two-day festival with on-site camping and 10 DJ arenas has given it the momentum to launch on an international scale, and there are now Creamfields events across the globe. In 2010, the Creamfields brand is staging no fewer than ten festivals around the world in places as far flung as Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Czech Republic, and Poland.

Who can I see at Creamfields 2010?

Retaining the crown as the world's number one dance music festivals is no mean feat, but the 2010 Creamfields lineup succeeds in cementing the event's reputation as a world leader. The newly redesigned site for 2010 plays host to an eclectic mix of acts, with highlights including: Tiesto, David Guetta, Sasha, Pete Tong, Deadmau5, Nick Warren, Dubfire, Leftfield, Calvin Harris and Judge Jules. In total there'll be something in the region of 100 DJs and live acts taking to the various stages over the course of the weekend, taking revellers from late morning all the way through to the small hours.

What else do I need to know about Creamfields?

As touched on before, you can now pitch your funky festival tents at Creamfields, with the event offering on-site camping for the first time in its 11 year history. For those who fancy something a bit more extravagant than just camping, then paying for access to the hospitality area will see you fed like royalty, and plied with cocktails. A vanity van offering complimentary spray tans is another VIP perk, and there'll also be a healthy amount of bubbly sploshing about the place. Music in the VIP area comes courtesy of the legendary Hacienda and Cream DJs.
